- The idea behind developing a remote patient monitoring system is to gather a wide variety of patient-generated health data through a compact device. Then transmit the data in real-time to the healthcare professionals so that they can make accurate, informed, and timely decisions about treatments.
- Understanding the project and client requirements, PsiBorg developed a portable, compact, and easy-to-use real-time patient monitoring system that embodies various sensors for monitoring health parameters like ECG, blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration rate, SPO2, body temperature, and body posture.
- The real-time health monitoring system comprises two hardware devices (central device & BP cuff) and a mobile app/web app. The central device is designed to measure 7 health parameters, while the second unit (BP cuff) is designed to measure blood pressure using the oscillometric method.

Challenges
Various major challenges in healthcare have led to the need for remote monitoring systems. For instance, it is necessary to monitor patients in remote areas or patients with chronic conditions who require continuous monitoring.
Our team spent a lot of time in research to build a proper project architecture.
Our team also faced issues in getting accurate and reliable ECG data, so we implemented an advanced noise reduction technique to minimize any kind of interference.
Nonetheless, from the development point of view, it was a challenge for our team to develop a real-time end-to-end health monitoring solution via a compact portable device and explore 12-lead placement strategies for clinical-grade accuracy.
Our Innovative Solution
We developed a smart patient monitoring system that consists of 5 sub-systems- a wearable central device, a BP cuff, iOS/Android mobile apps, a web app, and a cloud API server.
We developed the first hardware unit that measures vital parameters like ECG, heart rate, pulse rate, body temperature, and oxygen level when attached to the body. We utilized PPG for accurate pulse rate monitoring and implemented a 12-lead ECG monitoring system.
The software for remote patient health monitoring is designed to facilitate the onboarding of hospitals and patients that use multiple health monitoring devices to monitor health parameters wirelessly and to connect patients to doctors for online consultations.
So, we designed an entire patient health monitoring system, where when the user switches ‘ON’ the device, the health monitoring system will initiate interaction with the doctor. The vital health parameters are visible to the doctor in real-time, through the software, the data is then uploaded to the cloud,
A user-friendly, software interface was designed with multiple panels, like system administrator, sub-admin, patients, and doctors.
